{"id":10516,"date":"2025-08-19T10:46:00","date_gmt":"2025-08-19T07:46:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/childrights.org.ua\/news\/umdpl-joined-the-joint-submission-to-the-un-committee-on-economic-social-and-cultural-rights\/"},"modified":"2025-10-16T10:59:02","modified_gmt":"2025-10-16T07:59:02","slug":"umdpl-joined-the-joint-submission-to-the-un-committee-on-economic-social-and-cultural-rights","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/childrights.org.ua\/en\/news\/umdpl-joined-the-joint-submission-to-the-un-committee-on-economic-social-and-cultural-rights\/","title":{"rendered":"UMDPL joined the joint submission to the UN Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Ukrainian Child Rights Network joined the joint submission to the UN Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights, prepared together with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/RCHR.Crimea?__cft__%5B0%5D=AZVhkj4CNQVwKPy0CgjSpxwVwFWqCYgMPBwBqQPRNyBw77lQJaSwA6jEE-hNhKOsIFvvT-bp2tUdRk_0VWfqag1E_ngS4vkOcAc9Yx_2nhmBkXUdJR1A1w2PSoAsRBBaO_oLwkuIhlsTFR71w_I_cv0BfaL7nfvOcqC2Cd9p4U2bsA&amp;__tn__=-%5DK-R\">Regional Center for Human Rights<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/voicesofchildren.ua?__cft__%5B0%5D=AZVhkj4CNQVwKPy0CgjSpxwVwFWqCYgMPBwBqQPRNyBw77lQJaSwA6jEE-hNhKOsIFvvT-bp2tUdRk_0VWfqag1E_ngS4vkOcAc9Yx_2nhmBkXUdJR1A1w2PSoAsRBBaO_oLwkuIhlsTFR71w_I_cv0BfaL7nfvOcqC2Cd9p4U2bsA&amp;__tn__=-%5DK-R\">Voices of Children<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n<p>The document was submitted at the 78th session of the Committee in Geneva in September 2025, as part of the periodic report of the Russian Federation.<\/p>\n\n<p>The submission documents the multilevel policy of the Russian Federation aimed at destroying Ukrainian identity, culture and the usual way of life in the occupied territories. In particular, 7 key practices of the occupation authorities are highlighted: <\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>deportation and forced transfer of Ukrainian children to Russian families;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>destruction of Ukrainian education;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>militarization and indoctrination of children;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>destruction and appropriation of cultural heritage;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>use of museums for state propaganda purposes;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>colonization of territories by resettlement of Russian citizens;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>massive illegal seizure of private property.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>These actions are systemic and violate the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights and international humanitarian law.<\/p>\n\n<p>We urge the Committee to include the following recommendations in its concluding observations on the Russian Federation:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Create an international mechanism for the return of all abducted children and ensure their reunification with their families.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To stop political indoctrination and militarization of education, to abolish Russian educational standards in the occupied territories.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Restore access to Ukrainian education and culture, provide Ukrainians with the opportunity to preserve and develop their culture in the occupied territories.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ensure the return of cultural property and compensate for the damage caused to Ukraine&#8217;s cultural heritage sites in the occupied territories, and stop the use of cultural institutions for the political and ideological purposes of the Russian Federation.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Stop the colonization of the occupied territories by Russian citizens.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Return the illegally confiscated property to its owners, and exclude the territory of Crimea from the list of &#8220;border territories of the Russian Federation&#8221;.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To fulfill the ECHR judgments and other international obligations under the decisions in the cases concerning Crimea and aggression against Ukraine.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>We also emphasized the need to address the UN General Assembly with a request to adopt a resolution recognizing the indoctrination and militarization of Ukrainian children in the occupied territories as a serious violation of children&#8217;s rights during war.<\/p>\n\n<p><a
