Another child has been safely returned from the occupation as part of the President’s initiative Bring Kids Back UA<\/a>. The return took place thanks to the efforts of our partners, the Ukrainian Child Rights Network<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n

At the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Russian troops quickly occupied Dmytro and his family’s home region. Due to the serious illness of his grandmother, the family was unable to evacuate to the government-controlled territory quickly. Due to constant interruptions in internet and communication, Dmytro was unable to continue his distance learning. <\/p>\n\n

Weeks without electricity, water and constant psychological pressure made life increasingly unbearable. Dmytro couldn’t even imagine his future, let alone his studies or career plans. <\/p>\n\n

After realizing the danger, Dmytro’s mother contacted the hotline of the Ukrainian Child Rights Network with a request to help evacuate her son. She stayed behind to take care of her bedridden grandmother. <\/p>\n\n

The response was quick: a safe route was developed and the evacuation began. At the border, Dmytro was met by a relative who will continue to take care of him. Now Dmytro is safe, making plans for the future and looking forward to seeing his friends. <\/p>\n\n

For security reasons, the child’s name was changed.<\/em><\/p>\n\n

The Ukrainian Child Rights Network, in partnership with SOS-Kinderd\u00f6rfer weltweit and Hermann-Gmeiner-Fonds Deutschland e.V., is implementing the project “The Way Home: A New Route” to help with the return and reintegration of deported children and youth.<\/em><\/p>\n\n
