Daria Kasyanova Participated in the Wilton Park 2026 International Conference
Daria Kasyanova, Chair of the Board of the Ukrainian Child Rights Network, took part in the German-British Wilton Park 2026 Conference held on March 17–19 at Schloss Ziethen, Germany.
The event brought together representatives of the Government of Ukraine, international partners, civil society, and experts to discuss what Ukraine’s social system should look like after the war.
Key topics
The main focus of the conference was “Reform priorities for inclusive social recovery in Ukraine.”
Today, Ukraine is facing several major challenges at once:
- rising poverty
- a deepening demographic crisis
- overloaded social services
- increasing need to support internally displaced persons (IDPs), veterans, and people returning from abroad or from temporarily occupied territories
At the same time, the social protection system remains fragmented and does not always provide comprehensive responses to these challenges.
What participants discussed
Over three days, participants worked on practical approaches and discussed how to move from fragmented efforts to systemic solutions. Key areas included:
- building an integrated social protection system
- strengthening the role of communities and access to services at the local level
- linking social policy with economic recovery
- developing sustainable demographic and labour policies
Participants also emphasized that social recovery should not be seen as a secondary issue. It is a key factor for economic stability, human capital development, and Ukraine’s European integration.
Why it matters
The Wilton Park format encourages open dialogue without formal speeches. This creates space for honest discussions and joint problem-solving.
Such exchanges help build a shared vision between the government, international partners, and civil society — which is essential for advancing meaningful social protection reforms in Ukraine.
