Global 2000 for Children of Ukraine Foundation
In 1995, the Austrian environmental organization GLOBAL2000 held a special event for children affected by the Chornobyl disaster who were treated in one of Kharkiv’s children’s hospitals. Once the initiative was launched, it was impossible to stop, so the project’s mastermind, Christoph Otto, organized broad support from Austrian philanthropists to help Ukraine.
Initially, efforts were focused on children from Chornobyl, but later it became clear that there was a need to support children with severe chronic diseases, orphans and children from families in difficult life circumstances, especially in Luhansk and Kharkiv regions. Therefore, the organization expanded its focus to sick children and those in need in general.
In 2021, on the initiative of Yulia Drumel and with the support of Christoph Otto, the Austrian eco-organization GLOBAL2000 became the founder of the Global2000 Charitable Foundation for Children of Ukraine, headed by Yulia Konotoptseva. The director of the Ukrainian foundation is responsible for ensuring that assistance to children is provided as quickly and efficiently as possible.
“I have been working with children in need since 2014 and am also an active volunteer. All children are beautiful and deserve to be healthy and have a happy childhood!” says Yulia.
Most of the foundation’s programs are funded by ordinary Austrian citizens.
