NGO “Merezhyvo”

The non-governmental organization “Merezhyvo” has been operating in Sumy city and the Sumy region since 2021. It was created as a support space for children and families in difficult life circumstances. The organization combines psychological assistance with practical services that help families cope with challenges and preserve family unity.

Areas of work

The organization works in the field of child rights protection. Its core principle is the right of every child to grow up in a family. Therefore, the team actively supports family-based care:

  • foster families
  • family-type children’s homes
  • guardianship (patronage) families

A separate focus is the development of mentorship and positive parenting programs.

Mentorship

Mentorship is one of the key directions of work. It provides long-term support for children, helping them develop, feel supported, and integrate better into community life.

Services and programs

The organization implements an integrated resilience-building service in the Sumy community. For this purpose, a Resilience Center has been created — a safe space for children and parents.

At the center, families can:

  • receive psychological support
  • attend developmental and corrective sessions
  • participate in art therapy meetings
  • receive consultations from specialists
  • find a safe space for rest and recovery

Team

The organization’s team includes around 15 professionals: social workers, psychologists, art therapists, and volunteers.

Priorities

  • development of accessible community-based services
  • promotion of inclusion
  • psychological recovery of children affected by war or family crises
