NGO “Martin Club”

The public organization “MARTIN-club” was founded in 1995 by creative youth of the city of Makiivka: musicians, artists, journalists, and teachers.

In 1999, the organization was officially registered on 6.10.1999. The first chairman of the NGO “Martin Club” is a cultural critic Serhiy Petrov.

His social and human rights activities began with helping street children. Since 2009, MARTIN Club has been a member of the Donbass Children’s Human Rights Network, which he founded, along with 5 other NGOs. In 2014, MARTIN Club is based in Dnipro, where it moved from the military conflict zone as a result of the occupation of Makiivka.

Mission: MARTIN Club helps children and women overcome the consequences of difficult life circumstances, war, and violence, helps them acquire the resources and necessary social competencies to change their lives for the better, and thus influences the development of the whole society.

Vision: We strive to make life free and full of opportunities for children and women in Ukraine. We act in the best interests of the child, to ensure that children grow up in a safe family environment where their rights and personality are respected. We practice zero tolerance for violence. We influence the reform of the social system by joining forces with civil society organizations.

Main activities of the organization:

  • Protecting children’s rights and improving their lives

We act in the interests of the child to grow up in a family environment. We oppose institutionalization. We ensure development.

  • Combating domestic and gender-based violence

We support the victim by providing a safe place, protection in court, increasing their economic potential, and representing their interests.

  • Humanitarian aid to the victims of war

We support families of war victims with food, medicine, financial aid and shelter.

  • Children’s support service

Establishment of a crisis support service for children in Dnipro, Novomoskovsk and Pavlohrad districts. Dnipro, Novomoskovsk and Pavlohrad districts (case management systems to provide social and psychological services for children living in families in difficult life circumstances, opening of 4 inclusive day care centers for children).

  • Day center “Pink Panama”

A safe place where children of internally displaced persons or children from families of people in helping professions (rescuers, police, journalists, doctors, teachers, volunteers, etc.) aged 4 to 16 can stay for 1 to 7 hours while their parents are working, looking for work or away on business.

Counteracting gender-based violence by creating safe spaces for women and crisis rooms in Pavlohrad Kamianske.
