Public organization “We are there”

The NGO “We Are There” is a non-profit inclusive social initiative registered in Cherkasy and officially included in the register of social service providers of the Ministry of Social Policy. The organization works to improve the quality of life of children with disabilities. The key focus of its activities is comprehensive social, psychological and rehabilitation services, as well as the development of creative and educational programs. We Are There has its own art/educational space in the regional center and is developing a network of “mobile teams” that provide support in remote communities in Cherkasy region. The organization cooperates with international donors (UNICEF, DanChurchAid, Ukrainian Education Platform, JUSI, Nova Ukraine, etc.) and actively builds partnerships with local authorities, businesses, and public associations.

Goal: to promote the formation of an inclusive and barrier-free society by providing quality social services and developing the potential of vulnerable groups through educational, psychological, rehabilitation and cultural programs.

Mission:

(at the regional level) To create an inclusive environment and ensure equal opportunities for the development and self-realization of children with disabilities through the provision of quality social services, the introduction of innovative rehabilitation methods and the development of the potential of Cherkasy region communities.

(Globally) To empower and improve the quality of life of children with disabilities, internally displaced families and other vulnerable groups by bringing together professionals and communities to create an accessible, tolerant and active society in Ukraine.

Alignment with the global context and donor priorities

  1. Contributing to the UN Sustainable Development Goals:
    – SDG 3: Good health and well-being (rehabilitation and psychosocial services).
    – SDG 4: Quality education (inclusive education, “Zmistno” space, mobile education teams).
    – SDG 10: Reduce inequality (advocacy for barrier-free access, social inclusion of people from vulnerable groups)
  2. Responding to the Challenges of War
    – Most donors focus on helping IDPs, people affected by the fighting, and creating social protection systems.
    – Integrated approaches: simultaneous work with social, psychological, and educational components.
  3. Integrated approach (multisectoral)
    – Donor organizations expect social initiatives to combine several areas (health care, psychosocial assistance, education, community reconstruction).
    – We Are There projects take into account multidimensional support: from speech therapy to support for children with special needs, from mobile teams to art therapy.
