“It is Good at Home” Center is opened!

The opening of the Center of Social Support for Children and Families “It is Good at Home” took place on December 19, 2014 in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast (Dnipropetrovsk region, Jubileyne town).

Opening of the Center is a very important step towards reforming the child protection system in Ukraine, which provides a complete transition from institutional care of children to upbringing in family and community.

Director of the Centre “It is Good at Home” Olena Gurzhiy and Director of “Hope and Homes for Children” in Ukraine Galyna Postolyuk conducted excursion in the Center departments for the guests.

The opening of the Center visited representatives of the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation, local authorities and social services and our other partners.

“Many people think it is the easiest way to take the child from the family in crisis. However, it is not. This Center works both with children and adults. Professionals help parents understand that the children are a sense of their lives. Such centers should appear everywhere”, – Governor Adviser Boris Treyherman said.

The Center became the second Center of Social Support for Children and Families in Ukraine, which provided services to help and support families and prevent children getting to institutions.
