Meeting with the Commissioner of the President of Ukraine for Children’s Rights

Today, the Commissioner of the President of Ukraine for Children’s Rights Mykola Kuleba met with representatives of NGOs. The meeting was also attended by representatives of all member organizations of the Ukrainian Child Rights Network. Mykola Kuleba expressed gratitude to the organizations for work on behalf of children, and emphasized on readiness to unite efforts for child rights protection and for child care.

Among the priorities of the Office of the Commissioner is to work not only with systematic tasks, but also with those required by the current situation in the country. First of all it is work with internally displaced persons, evacuation of children and families from the conflict zone, search for housing of IDPs, work with the people remaining in a combat zone. The range of problems is immense and includes education in the occupied territories and the restoration of social work professionals, rehabilitation and provision of documents to displaced children and families.

Therefore Mykola Kuleba noted that it is necessary to develop the National Action Strategy for Children. In addition, he stressed on improvement of Ukrainian law concerning child rights and the Ministry of Social Policy reform.
