Project “Development, implementation and support of effective safe-guarding policies among members of the Ukrainian Child Rights Network and beyond”

The Ukrainian Child Rights Network (UCRN) in partnership with Terre des hommes Deutschland is implementing the project “Development, implementation and support of effective safe-guarding policies among members of the Ukrainian Child Rights Network and beyond” , which aims to strengthen the child rights protection system in Ukraine through the introduction of safe-guarding standards for members of the Ukrainian Child Rights Network and government agencies.

The project is aimed at improving organizational culture, raising awareness and developing procedures for child protection, in particular in cases of return from Russia and the temporarily occupied territories, reintegration and evacuation. Particular attention is paid to building the resilience and capacity of network members to protect children during the war.

Project objectives:

  1. Update the safe-guarding policy of the Ukrainian Child Rights Network by reviewing standards and algorithms for protecting children from violence.
  2. Improve interaction between members of the Ukrainian Child Rights Network and integrate child protection measures into the processes of organizations (strategic planning, budgeting, management, etc.).
  3. Conduct trainings on safe-guarding for members of the Ukrainian Child Rights Network and Children’s Services.
  4. Develop and implement a minimum standard for child protection in case management.
  5. Provide emergency support for the return of children who have been deported and forcibly displaced, as well as for family reunification.

Project duration: 02.09.2024 to 31.08.2025

Territory of implementation: Ukraine

Expected results: child beneficiaries of the Ukrainian Child Rights Network and other child service providers are safe; the rights of children in need of special support or accompaniment are no longer violated; reunification of illegally/forcibly displaced children with their families continues.
